The Michael Ryder-Erik Cole trade was the first notable trade of the season and it had everyone talking.
February was a productive month for the Montreal Canadiens. Fresh off of inking contract-holdout P.K. Subban, the Habs went 9-2-3, and finished the month first in the Eastern Conference.
Tuesday night’s Erik Cole-Michael Ryder trade came as a surprise to everyone.
Heavily reported on and heavily hyped, the previews and the storylines for Thursday’s game in Toronto were many.
Marc Bergevin made his first major splash as GM of the Habs on Tuesday night.
Although there was a small blip along the way the Habs continued their strong play, spending much of the week atop the Eastern Conference.
Erik Cole has been a shadow of the man Canadiens fans saw rack up a career high 35 goals last season.
It wasn’t quite as memorable as exactly five years ago but on Tuesday night, the Habs overcame a slow start to beat the Rangers 3-1.
What a difference seven days makes. One week ago, things weren’t looking too rosy for the Habs who had lost three straight but now their fortunes have reversed after a perfect 3-0 effort.
