While the Habs will have a couple of prospects at the upcoming World Juniors, they’ll also have a prospect in the Spengler Cup as Zach Fucale will suit up for Team Canada.
It was a slow start to the week for the Habs but they finished with one of their best road games of the season. As for St. John’s, they managed to overcome a depleted roster to pick up points in all three of their outings.
Several St. John’s forwards got off to strong starts to the season as the offence has been better than expected at times. Those players get the top billing in our first quarter grades for their forwards.
The IceCaps recently passed the one-quarter mark of the season and find themselves around the middle of the pack. Here are our grades for the first quarter of the year, beginning with the goaltenders and defencemen.
The week didn’t start off well for the Habs but it ended on their highest note of the season with a shellacking of Colorado. As for St. John’s, they split the final two games of their home stand but remain outside of a playoff spot as they embark on a four week road trip.
While November wasn’t as good as the previous month for the Habs, several of their prospects had some strong performances. Here are our three stars.

Montreal’s California trip didn’t go quite as bad as usual as the Habs managed a win while dropping a pair of close contests as well. In St. John’s, they didn’t play particularly well in all but one of their four games but managed to pick up a pair of wins thanks to a different goalie stepping up.
It wasn’t pretty at times but the Habs still had a successful week, taking two of three games to hang on to top spot in the standings. In St. John’s, they too had some rough stretches en route to splitting a weekend series against Boston’s farm team.
