The first week of Montreal’s semifinal series against Vegas has been a successful one as the Habs grabbed home-ice advantage with a split on the road and then stole a victory on home ice to grab the lead.

On Thursday, the NHL named the three finalists for the Jim Gregory Award, given to the general manager of the year.  Montreal GM Marc Bergevin is one of those finalists.

Another of Montreal’s international minor leaguers is heading back overseas as it was announced on Tuesday that defenceman Otto Leskinen has signed a two-year deal with Jokerit of the KHL.

The Habs didn’t waste any time finishing Winnipeg off as they spent both ends of a back-to-back game last week to sweep Winnipeg, earning themselves a long break in the process and a trip to Vegas for the third round.

Over the past several days, Laval has been getting a head start on putting their team together for next season, signing some prospects.  On Friday, they added a veteran to their ranks, announcing the signing of winger Gabriel Bourque to a one-year AHL deal.

Cole Caufield had a delayed start to his playoffs but he has quickly become a fixture in Montreal’s top six. Along the way, he may very well be the biggest wildcard if the Habs are going to have success in the third round.
