Saku Koivu will not play versus the Red Wings on Monday , Koivu will not return until Thursday against the Islanders at the earliest. The finnish centre suffered a knee injury during the exhibition schedule and has yet to play in any regular season games

The Montreal Canadiens fell short in their pursuit of a 4th straight win with the Toronto Maple Leafs visiting the Bell Center on Saturday night. The fell short indeed, in that they found themselves playing shorthanded far too many times on this night.

MONTREAL (CP) – The Toronto Maple Leafs were circling the Bell Centre ice getting ready for practice on Friday when suddenly they were called in for a team meeting.

Koivu won’t face Leafs, but might return VS Hasek and the Wings.

The Habs had a bit of a sloppy night, but the Penguins failed to capitalize on their mistakes and then Montreal took over in the third period to bring it home. Theodore was on his game yet again, and the power-play was on fire going 3 for 4 on the night.

With the injured slowly returning, the Habs had to send a few players down to respect the 23 man roster limit.
