The 2016 NHL Entry Draft is just a day away and the Habs head into the first round with the ninth overall selection. While there is a clear favourite in terms of who many think the team will pick, there is still a wide difference of opinion as to who may be available when Trevor Timmins announces the selection.
On Tuesday, we unveiled our official mock draft with us projecting that the Habs will select Logan Brown ninth overall on Friday night. Do our writers think that’s the right pick or do they feel Marc Bergevin and Trevor Timmins should take someone else?
The 2016 NHL Entry Draft will be held at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo this coming Friday and Saturday. As is our annual tradition, here is HabsWorld’s official mock draft; we project the entire first round plus Montreal’s second and third round choices.
Welcome to HabsWorld’s annual draft pool. The draft will be held on June 24th and 25th in Buffalo. Make your guess as to who the Canadiens will select as well as who the rest of the league will select in the first round on Friday night by entering our draft pool.
There’s a big American kid playing for the Windsor Spitfires that has been rocketing up draft lists in the second half of the season. When I say big, I mean huge – Logan Brown is already 6’6 and may still be growing. Brown has the potential to develop into the big, dynamic center that every team in the NHL craves, including the Canadiens.
The NHL held their draft lottery on Saturday night. The Habs had a 5% chance of landing the #1 overall pick but after the dust settled, they remained where they started the night at, holding the 9th selection.
It was a mixed bag for young Alex Galchenyuk during the 2014-2015 season, as career highs were achieved nearly across the board in terms of stats, but there was a feeling that there could have been more.
It was a pretty solid showing from Montreal’s little pest, Brendan Gallagher, during the 2014-2015 season as he broke the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career. Will he eclipse that again in 2015-16?
The 2015 NHL Draft has come and gone without the Habs making too much noise as a result of only having five selections. Having had some time to ponder their choices, here are my grades for each of the picks.
