Thursday night was a strange game as both teams could gain more by losing the contest. In the end, the Flyers were able to beat Carey Price a little too easily as they put up six goals, too much for the Habs to overcome as they loss 6-3 in what can only be described as a sloppy affair.
After being doubled up in a loss on Saturday, the Habs were back in action on Tuesday as they hosted the Wild. They put up a better effort but the offensive production went quiet again as Minnesota skated away with the 2-0 victory.
The Habs will be without Michael Pezzetta for their games on Tuesday and Thursday as the Department of Player Safety announced that they’ve handed the winger a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head on Washington winger T.J. Oshie.
The Habs had a successful week when it came to their draft pick situation this summer but it came on the hands of some tough losses as they extended their losing streak to five straight games.
Montreal was able to rediscover their scoring touch on Saturday against Washington as they scored four times. However, a tough night defensively did the Habs in as the Capitals doubled that total, skating away with the 8-4 victory.
The Habs outshot the Islanders 44-20 on Friday, missed some glorious chances, and really had them on the ropes all night long. However, they never could solve Ilya Sorokin and made some untimely mistakes en route to spoiling Carey Price’s return with a 3-0 loss.
Fresh off their loss to Winnipeg, the Habs were back in action on Wednesday as they were in Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets. They struggled offensively throughout the game, ultimately falling 5-1.
On a Monday night where too many veterans took the night off, the Habs relied on a strong Samuel Montembeault performance to stay in the game longer than they deserved to. It almost worked but Winnipeg ultimately skated away with the 4-2 win.
The Habs were able to put some goals up this past week but that wasn’t enough to change their fortunes as they only had one win sandwiched by a pair of losses as they remain at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
