The Habs had to survive an ugly first period on Tuesday night in Utah. However, the second line was the offensive catalyst in this one, allowing Montreal to pick up a 5-3 victory.
After being involved in a traffic accident as a pedestrian on Monday in Utah, the Habs announced on Tuesday that winger Emil Heineman will miss the next three to four weeks with an upper-body injury.
Going into the week, few would have expected Montreal to come out with five out of six points against Vancouver, Washington, and Dallas. However, their strong two-way efforts continued, allowing them to do just that.
Montreal put up a solid effort on the back half of a back-to-back set on Saturday night, taking Dallas to a shootout. However, Nick Robertson scored the only time in the shootout, giving the Stars the 2-1 win.
The Habs were in Washington to take on the best team in the Eastern Conference on Friday. They came back from an early deficit, took the lead in the second and while they lost it in the third, Nick Suzuki potted another overtime winner to give Montreal the 3-2 win.
The Habs closed up 2024 on a high note with some big victories to get themselves closer to the playoff picture. Along the way, they had some different contributors than normal, some of whom received enough votes from our readers to land in our three stars.
In a back-and-forth game on Monday, the Habs weren’t able to hold a third-period lead but it didn’t matter as Nick Suzuki scored in the opening minute of overtime to give them the 5-4 win over Vancouver.
The final week of the road trip saw the Habs play against two very tough opponents and one much weaker one. Instead of things playing out as expected, the opposite happened as they beat Vegas and Colorado but lost to Chicago.
The Habs wrapped up their six-game road trip on a high note on Saturday night. On the back half of a back-to-back set, they got a strong performance from Jakub Dobes to help lead the Canadiens to a 2-1 shootout win.
