After kicking off the season with a win against a divisional rival, the Habs looked to beat another rival Thursday in Boston. This one wasn’t anything like Wednesday’s affair with the Canadiens falling short by a score of 6-4.

The Habs kicked off the 2024-25 regular season on Wednesday, hosting Toronto. They got an early power play goal and Samuel Montembeault stole the show from there as Montreal picked up the 1-0 victory.

The Habs are bringing back a familiar face as the team announced on Wednesday that they’ve signed blueliner Gustav Lindstrom to a one-year, two-way contract.  Lindstrom was subsequently played on waivers for the purposes of assigning him to Laval.

As part of their early-season roster shuffling for salary cap optimization, the Habs have placed Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Patrik Laine on long-term injured reserve.

The Habs will have to wait a while for Patrik Laine to make his official debut with the team but that doesn’t mean he’s not worth being picked in most fantasy leagues.

The Habs wrapped up their preseason on Saturday in Ottawa. After winning in Montreal earlier in the week, the Senators picked up the second match as well, skating away with the 4-2 victory.

Topics in this edition of the HabsWorld Podcast include the performance of several prospects at training camp, Patrik Laine’s injury, the already-struggling power play, and much more.

Carey Price has been on LTIR for the bulk of the last three seasons and will be there again this season. But while Vegas found a workaround to their similar situation with Robin Lehner, it’s not a road map for the Canadiens to follow with Price next year.

After a pair of losses to Toronto, the Habs looked to kick off the final week of the preseason on a high note as they hosted Ottawa on Tuesday night. However, the penalty kill was a problem, allowing four goals as the Sens picked up the 4-3 win.
