Carey Price has been on LTIR for the bulk of the last three seasons and will be there again this season. But while Vegas found a workaround to their similar situation with Robin Lehner, it’s not a road map for the Canadiens to follow with Price next year.
After a pair of losses to Toronto, the Habs looked to kick off the final week of the preseason on a high note as they hosted Ottawa on Tuesday night. However, the penalty kill was a problem, allowing four goals as the Sens picked up the 4-3 win.
The verdict is in on how long Patrik Laine will be out for. The good news is that the injury is not as severe as it first looked. The bad news is that even so, he’ll miss the next two to three months with a knee sprain.
After cutting 27 players from training camp following Saturday’s loss to Toronto, the Habs have made two more cuts, announcing Sunday that Lucas Condotta and Brandon Gignac have been placed on waivers.

After a pair of home wins to kick off the preseason, a youngster-filled Canadiens lineup travelled to Toronto on Thursday night. Facing a veteran-laden Maple Leafs roster, Jakub Dobes helped keep it close but Toronto picked up the 2-1 win.
Tuesday’s game was far from action-filled with Montreal icing a mostly different lineup and New Jersey bringing far from their best. However, Michael Pezzetta led the way offensively with two goals as the Habs picked up the 3-0 win.
The Habs showed a new aggressive approach in their preseason opener which was fun to watch. It suited a large number of new faces on the roster and the Habs used it to ride a third period wave of offence to a 5-0 win.
