Things were looking up for Montreal with a pair of strong home wins but a collapse on the road in Toronto ended the week on a sour note.

On Saturday, the Habs returned to the road as they travelled to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. They got off to a great start but faltered in the final two periods as they were doubled up 6-3.

While Marc Bergevin has suggested that the Habs aren’t likely to be too active by Monday’s trade deadline, here are some players he may be looking into over the coming days.

The Habs absolutely dominated from the opening faceoff as they took off and never looked back as they ended the night with a 5-1 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday night, a game that included Brendan Gallagher’s first career hat-trick.

Some unsung heroes really showed up for the Habs on Tuesday as Nate Thompson, Jordie Benn, and Paul Byron were big factors in helping the Habs overcome an intense and physical Columbus team on their way to a 3-2 regulation win.

The road was not kind to the Habs last week as they dropped all three games and as a result, they’ve basically blown their cushion on Carolina for a playoff spot.

Rare have been the losses this season that have reminded fans of last season. However, Sunday’s effort in Florida, a 6-3 loss, was a game that looked like 2017-18 and reminded us how much better this season has been.

Despite playing an excellent first 40 minutes on the road, the Habs lost their focus in the third and the NHL-best Lightning took advantage of this by scoring three to win 3-0 on Saturday night.

It wasn’t a terrible effort by the Habs, but the Predators were more determined in the first and third period and that effort ended up on the scoreboard as they beat the Habs 3-1 in Nashville on Thursday night.
