Being the storied franchise that the Montreal Canadiens organization is, its fans have naturally developed a tendency to hold their team to a higher standard.
This was a consistently exciting game for the full 64 minutes and 35 seconds. Both teams were flying all night, with a combined 80 shots hitting the goalies or the twine.
For all the bad losses we’ve been seeing, this was a helluva turnaround! Pretty much everyone was on their game, and a lot of things just went right for a change.
It’s hard to call this loss heartbreaking. 11 straight penalties against the Canadiens had the fate of the team sealed early.
