The first period on Saturday night was a close one but it was all Montreal from there. The Habs scored six unanswered in the final two periods, headlined by Rafael Harvey-Pinard’s first career hat trick as the Canadiens picked up an 8-2 victory over Columbus.
The Habs had the lead a couple of times in Tampa Bay on Saturday night but the Lightning were able to come back with three unanswered tallies in the third to skate away with the 5-3 victory.
With the trade deadline now behind them, the Habs were in Anaheim on Friday to wrap up a back-to-back stretch. However, a pair of goals from the Ducks in the third period created a deficit that was too much to overcome as Montreal fell 3-2.
For the third game in a row, the Habs played to a 5-2 score on Saturday night. However, this time they were on the losing end as Ottawa picked up the victory.
While the Canadiens were able to open up the scoring on Saturday night in Toronto, things went downhill from there in a hurry as the Maple Leafs picked up five unanswered goals to take the 5-1 victory.
Following a long layoff for the All-Star break and the bye week, the Habs were back in action on Saturday afternoon against the Islanders. It was a back-and-forth affair that needed over time and after Montreal killed off a penalty, Mike Matheson potted the winner for a 4-3 victory.
The Habs couldn’t muster up much offensively on Saturday night against Ottawa. While they were able to get through the first period tied, things went downhill from there as they fell 5-0.
Not long after learning they’d be without Cole Caufield for the rest of the season, the Habs were in action on Saturday night in Toronto. Rem Pitlick moved up the lineup in Caufield’s absence and made the most of his chances, potting the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory.
It was another quiet night offensively for the Canadiens on Saturday as they weren’t able to give Samuel Montembeault much goal support in spite of a strong performance from the netminder. Two early goals were all the Islanders needed as they picked up the 2-1 victory.
