Montreal’s first game after the holiday break was an inconsistent one as they had segments where they struggled mightily and others where they hung in against Carolina. However, in the end, they fell 5-3.
The Habs were able to make a late comeback on Thursday in Minnesota to get the game to overtime but Kirill Kaprizov notched the winner in the dying seconds of the extra session to give the Wild a 4-3 win.
While the Habs blew another multi-goal lead on Monday night, it didn’t come back to bite them as Justin Barron scored in the opening minute of overtime to give Montreal a 3-2 victory over Winnipeg.
The second half of back-to-back sets has been a problem for Montreal this season and that continued on Sunday. They weren’t able to muster up much, eventually falling 2-1 to Nashville.
The Habs certainly kept up with the Kings through the first half of their matchup on Thursday night. However, they struggled from there, ultimately falling 4-0 to Los Angeles for the second time in less than two weeks.
The Habs returned home on Thursday to take on the Panthers. The game was close through 40 minutes but Florida was able to score early and often on Cayden Primeau in the third as they picked up the 5-1 victory.
The Habs started Wednesday’s game in Anaheim off strong before fading in the second half of the game. However, a late goal from Alex Newhook proved to be the difference-maker in a 4-3 Montreal victory.
In a battle of strong performances between both goaltenders, the Habs came up just short on Tuesday against Calgary as the Flames were able to pick up the 2-1 victory.
The Habs looked to make it three straight victories as they hosted Vancouver on Sunday night. However, they weren’t able to overcome a three-goal second period from the Canucks, eventually falling 5-2.
