For the most part, the Habs were the better team on Thursday. However, when they broke down defensively, it was simply atrocious and the scoring chances given up were too dangerous and too numerous as the Devils skated away with a 6-4 win.
Despite a solid first period, the Habs and Carey Price were unable to focus on the defensive side of the puck. Against a team of the Bruins’ calibre, they paid the price as Boston exploited this lack of discipline to the tune of an 8-1 final score on Tuesday night.
It was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde game as the Habs came out buzzing on Wednesday night, but never could capitalize. With only a 1-0 lead at the midway point of the game, the Sens were able to generate momentum and got the game to overtime where they scored to pick up the 2-1 victory.
In a game where the Habs appeared stymied by the Blue Jackets neutral zone checking, Carey Price came up huge and stole two points in a 3-2 shootout victory on Tuesday night.
In what can only be described as a playoff atmosphere and playoff-like game on the ice, both the Bruins and the Habs tried mightily to overcome off nights from their goaltenders. In the end, some defensive changes proved beneficial for Montreal in a 5-4 victory.
The Habs came out strong every period but quickly ran out of energy. This allowed Vegas to dictate the pace for a majority of this game on Thursday night. However, the never say die attitude of this team re-surfaced as they dug deep and salvaged the game with a nice 2-goal comeback in the third period before winning it 5-4 in overtime.
The Habs came out strong but the veteran presence of the Sharks knew how to handle it. With an early lead, San Jose put on a road game clinic as they bored both the fans and the Habs to sleep on their way to what can only be described as a soft or easy 4-2 road win.
In a game where the Habs were uncharacteristically outworked, they paid the ultimate price in their first regulation loss of the season as they fell 4-2 to Detroit on Thursday night.
In a game where the defensive coverage by both teams left much to be desired, Buffalo’s was ultimately the difference in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Habs on Wednesday night.
