HabsWorld.net --

The Habs shortened their UFA list summer by one on Wednesday, announcing that they’ve signed Laval captain Lucas Condotta to a two-year, two-way contract extension.  The deal will carry a $775,000 cap charge in the NHL, a $350,000 AHL salary, and a guaranteed payout of $400,000 in each season, per PuckPedia.

The 27-year-old signed him as an undrafted college free agent back in 2022 and has spent most of his time with the Rocket but he has seen NHL action in each of his three full professional campaigns.  Condotta got into seven games with Montreal earlier this season, recording a goal along with ten hits in a little over eight minutes a night of playing time.  For his career, he has two goals in 11 contests with the Canadiens.

Condotta has worked his way up from being a checking forward with Laval to a regular member of the top six this season although that hasn’t resulted in an uptick in production.  In 50 games with the Rocket in 2024-25, he has three goals and 20 assists along with 58 penalty minutes.  Over his parts of four seasons in Laval (he joined them after his college campaign ended in 2021-22), Condotta has 27 goals and 47 assists in 174 appearances.

With Condotta’s signing, the Habs have three remaining pending UFAs in Laval (excluding AHL contracts): forwards Alex Barre-Boulet and Brandon Gignac along with goaltender Connor Hughes.  They also have seven potential RFAs in July, headlined by wingers Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Sean Farrell, defenceman William Trudeau, and goalie Cayden Primeau.
