Saturday’s game was one that the Habs controlled for the most part. They were clearly the better team for at least 45-50 minutes. But 45 seconds with a cold goaltender was enough to keep the team from earning a second consecutive victory for the first time this season as they lost 3-2 in overtime to the Red Wings.

With just two wins in ten games in the opening month of the season, there weren’t many positives for the Habs. However, a handful of players had decent starts to their season, earning them the nod as Montreal’s three stars for October as voted by our readers.

The Habs delivered an emotional and determined performance on Thursday as they hounded the puck all night long and made life miserable for the Flames. They won many races and battles to overcome a shaky start and skate away with a 4-2 victory to end their homestand.

With the Habs being banged up right now, recalls were expected.  They came right after Laval’s game on Wednesday as the team announced that Ryan Poehling and Mattias Norlinder were recalled from the Rocket.

After a disappointing outing on Saturday against Vegas, the Habs were looking to get back in the win column on Tuesday against Los Angeles. They were able to come back late to force overtime but that’s as close as they got as they fell 3-2.

The Habs had some improved stretches over the past week, showing strong flashes against each of their three opponents. However, they couldn’t sustain it for long periods of time and the end result was another losing week as they picked up just a single win in three games.

The Habs got off to a dominant start on Saturday against Vegas, holding a two-goal lead and a shot advantage of 20-1 through 20 minutes. However, things went off the rails from there as the Golden Knights scored five unanswered to pick up the 5-2 victory.
