After a torrid start that found the Habs among the league’s top teams, the group came back to earth in November with a 5-6-3 record. Though they’ve been scoring plenty, the Canadiens have struggled to keep the puck out of the net and injuries to Paul Byron, Joel Armia, and Noah Juulsen certainly didn’t help things. Yet there remains a certain amount of optimism around the club and with captain Shea Weber returning to the lineup and the team hanging around playoff contention, things have definitely been worse. The future continues to look bright, but the lack of a first pairing left defenceman to play with Weber is looming large.
