According to a report in the Toronto Sun, the Habs have given Director of Amateur Scouting Trevor Timmins a contract extension. The length of the deal was not disclosed.
Timmins has been with the Canadiens since 2002-2003 after spending a decade with the Senators and has held a variety of titles with the team. In his tenure with Montreal, Timmins has been the Director of Player Development (02-03 to 12-13) as well as Director and VP of Player Personnel on top of his head amateur scout position.
Under his tenure, the Habs have selected several core players of the current team including Carey Price, Max Pacioretty, and Alex Galchenyuk with first round picks, as well as Brendan Gallagher, and the recently-traded P.K. Subban with later selections. Of course, there have been some busts as well, such as David Fischer, Louis Leblanc, and Kyle Chipchura, who recently signed a one year deal in the KHL.
On top of the draft, Timmins is also in charge of amateur free agency. The Canadiens have had some success in recent years in that area, signing Mike Condon, Daniel Carr, and Charlie Lindgren who have all seen NHL time as well as adding Ryan Johnston, Tom Parisi, and Michael McNiven in the past calendar year.
