With the votes in and tallied, our Habsworld readers
made strong cases as to who deserved the HW 3 Star honours for November. There
were no surprises this month, as the players who put up the best statistics
received the vast majority of votes.
1st Star | Carey Price | 10 GP – 5 W – 3 L – 2 OTL – 1.97 GAA – 0.934 SV% |
|
For the second month in a row, it was Carey Price that earned the 1st Star of the month. It’s hard to think that any other Canadien deserved more recognition than Carey, as he was rock-solid in net, and gave the team a chance to win every game. In 10 matches, there were only two instances in which he allowed more than 2 goals, and he ended the month on a personal 4-game winning streak. With his poise and consistency in net, it’s no surprise that most people are now considering Carey as the obvious choice for Team Canada’s starting goaltender.

2nd Star | Max Pacioretty | 13 GP – 7 G – 2 A – 9 P – +3 Rating |
|
Most know that Max Pacioretty collects points in streaks, and November was a prime example of this tendency. Recording a solitary assist in the first 7 games, Pacioretty exploded for 8 points in the remaining 6 games upon being reunited with David Desharnais. Max’s 59 shots on net led the team in that department, and is an indicator that he is regaining confidence after struggling upon his return from injury.

3rd Star | P.K. Subban | 14 GP – 2 G – 10 A – 12 P – +5 Rating |
|
While the media seemed intent on blowing up the P.K.-isn’t-good-enough-to-play-for-Team-Canada issue ad nauseam, Subban showed an equal desire to continue dominating at his position. Subban’s 12 points tied him for the team lead, while his +5 rating and 7 powerplay points led all Montreal skaters. In 14 games, P.K. was only held off the scoresheet for 5 games, and he boasted a 5-game point streak at the start of the month. |

HM | Andrei Markov | 14 GP – 1 G – 11 A – 12 P – +4 Rating |
|
Markov’s strong play in November was a big reason why the Canadiens were successful, while at the same time made us wonder how much longer he can perform at such a high level. Upon returning from injury, Markov had adapted his style of play to incorporate his limitations, and now shows no signs of slowing down. His 12 points tied him with P.K. Subban for the team lead, so clearly there are plenty of reasons to try to keep this effective Markov around for as long as possible.
