The Habs added to their stable of prospects on Tuesday as the announced the
signing of left winger Jack Nevins to a three year, entry level contract.
As per club policy, financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Nevins is expected to remain with his QMJHL team in Charlottetown which will
burn off the first year of his deal before he turns pro.
Nevins, a 6’2, 205 lb forward, is somewhat of a late bloomer. He was
undrafted in the OHL before signing with Sarnia as a free agent where he was a
teammate of Alex Galchenyuk. He spent a partial season there before being
dealt to Kingston where he played another partial year. Nevins was then
dealt to London before the start of last year but only played two games there
before being waived out of the league.
He was picked up by PEI of the QMJHL where he spent the majority of last
year, collecting 15 points in 51 games with 103 PIMS. Ben Duffy, the
QMJHL’s leading scorer that year, who has spent time with Hamilton and Wheeling
this season, was also a member of that team. Nevins joined Charlottetown
this season and his performance has blossomed while serving as team captain.
Through 30 games, he has 30 points, more than his entire major junior career
prior to this season combined. He also has a league leading 85 PIMS and a
+7 rating.
Nevins is a physical forward who is more than willing to drop the gloves.

work in progress while his skating is one area that will need considerable
improvement. With the contract, the Habs now have 46 contracts committed
out of the limit of 50 (presuming none of the other signed junior players suit
up for nine or more games this season).
