The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Ryan White to a one-year, one-way contract. The deal is said to be worth 625 000 dollars.
The 23 year-old started last season in Hamilton, where he totalled 12 points in 33 games. Upon his call-up to the big club, the Brandon native participated in 27 NHL games, registering 5 points and 38 penalty minutes in the process. Most notably, he scored his first NHL goal on March 20th against the Wild in Minneapolis. In that game, he also collected an assist and particpated in a fight, hence completing the ‘Gordie Howe Hat Trick’.
Ryan White was the Canadiens’ fourth pick, 66th overall in 2006. Since the 2009-10 campaign, he has registered seven points in 43 NHL regular-season games. The 6’00”, 198 lbs forward has also gone pointless in 7 playoff appearances.
Prior to joining the Canadiens organization, White was a member of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen. In his four-year junior career, he put 278 points in 334 games, including both regular-season and playoffs.
