The Habs made their final training camp cuts on Wednesday, just prior to the
3 PM EST roster deadline. Ben Maxwell, Ryan White, Yannick Weber, Curtis
Sanford, and Alex
Henry were all assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs, the latter two having cleared
waivers earlier in the day. However, due to injuries, the Habs will
actually be carrying a roster of 25 to start the season.
The "final" roster:
Goalies: Alex Auld, Carey Price (inj.)
Defence: Hal Gill, Josh Gorges, Roman Hamrlik (inj.), Andrei Markov (inj.),
Ryan O’Byrne, Alexandre Picard (has not yet cleared waivers), Jaroslav Spacek,
P.K. Subban.
Forwards: Hunter Bishop (inj.*), Dustin Boyd, Mike Cammalleri, Mathieu
Darche, Lars Eller, Brian Gionta, Scott Gomez, Jeff Halpern, Andrei Kostitsyn,
Maxim Lapierre, Travis Moen, Tomas Plekanec, Benoit Pouliot, Tom Pyatt, Ryan
Russell (inj.*)
* – As these players are really Hamilton Bulldogs and were injured in camp,
their cap hit will be their minor league salaries ($67,500 and $60,000,
respectively).
As a result of Picard, Bishop, and Russell all being on the roster, the Habs are now just $639,167 under the cap after using the bonus cushion. The
‘good news’ is that Mike Cammalleri’s suspension will increase this amount
tomorrow by over $32,000.
