HabsWorld.net --
The Montreal Canadiens are in Boston to face the Bruins Saturday night. The
match comes less than 24 hours after the Habs were handed a 8-5 loss by the
Buffalo Sabres, knocking Montreal into 9th place in the Eastern Conference. This
is yet another big game regarding points because the Bruins have played less
games than most teams in the East, and have a statistical chance of making the
playoffs once they make up the difference in games played. Jaroslav Halak gets
the start in nets for Montreal.

2nd Period
Boston 1-0: Petr Tenkrat let a shot off from
just passed the blue line that tipped off Sheldon Souray’s stick up over Halak’s
glove. Not much Halak could have done to stop the redirected shot from finding
it’s way into the net. The goal came on Boston’s 27th shot of the game only five
minutes into the second frame. Marco Sturm gets the only assist on Tenkrat’s
seventh of the season.
Boston 2-0: Brandan Bochenski caught Halak
cheating on a 2-on-1 opportunity and fired home his 9th of the season. The goal
came not long after Montreal failed to cash in on a powerplay opportunity.
Rookie Phil Kessel assists on Bochenski’s goal which came with only a
minute left in the second period.
3rd Period
Montreal 1-2: Sheldon Souray’s 23rd of the
season brings Montreal back into the game when he rushed in on the left side.
Not only did he power the shot through Thomas’ five-hole, but managed to knock a
Bruins’ stick out of their grasp towards Thomas all in one swing. Mark Streit
picks up his 30th point of the season with an assist on the goal and Sergei
Samsonov also chips in with a helper.
Boston 3-1: Glen Murray rips a shot passed
Halak’s glove to give Boston a solid two-goal lead late in the third. Kessel
picks up his second assist of the night after some confusion in the Habs end
leading to a Souray give away. With Thomas playing the way his is tonight, the
goal makes it very difficult for Montreal to get back into this game. Marc
Savard also picks up an assist on the goal.
