The 2004 NHL entry draft took place the weekend of June 26-27th in Raleigh, North Carolina. This year’s draft was the 41st edition of the annual event; the first NHL Amateur Draft being held at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal on June 5, 1963. All NHL drafts were held in Montreal until 1985 when the NHL began rotating the host city.
