Hamilton Bulldogs vs Toronto Roadrunners 11-28 (3-2 OT)
By Dan Linn
The Hamilton Bulldogs return home to face the Roadrunners in a home and home series. The Dogs are looking to take over 1st overall in the AHL with a win tonight. In net tonight, J-F Damphousse gets the nod, verse Michael Morrison . Andrew Archer will not play again.
1st Peroid
The Roadrunners jump on board at the mid point of the peroid, as Cote coughed up the puck, and Adam Henrich put it home. But thanks to the hard work of Jonathan Ferland along the boards, he fought for possession of the puck and was able to get it behind the net where Tampa prospect Jimmy Olvestad was able to get a wrap around goal.
2nd Peroid
Not much going on in the peroid, as the Roadrunners struggled to find any offense at all, while the Dogs couldn’t score on back to back power plays.
3rd Peroid
With less then a minute left in the game, with Chris Higgins getting the puck to Somervuori who was able to put it home, for what looked to be the game winning goal, but just 16 seconds later, Doug Lynch was able to drive one home. The Roadrunners were able to score 2 goals on just 12 total shots.
Overtime
It took only 10 seconds for Chris Higgins to score his 2nd overtime goal of the season, as he got the puck from Marcel Hossa he wasted no time in burying his shot for the win. Higgins also scored in OT against the Amerks earlier in the season.
Game Notes. Higgins led the way with a two point night, with Hossa, Ferland, Dwyer, Olevstad, and Somervuori all getting one point each. Tomas Pleckanec led the team with 5 shots on goal, with Alex Perezhogin not far behind with 4 shots. Ron Hainsey led with a +2 while Patrick Traverse was on the other end with a -2. Damphousse was able to get the win, and is now 5-3-1 on the season, after stopping 10 of 12.
